The Power of Now

Unity of Portland with Rev. Dick

Tuesdays, September 14 - November 23 (11 weeks)

7:00-8:30 PM

We are all in the process of awakening to an expanded consciousness that Jesus referred to as The Kingdom of Heaven. The KOH has been a mystery to humanity with the exception of a few, but is now being revealed to us through every life experience. Living consciously in the moment; becoming aware of who we are not, and accepting what is, are the key practices that allow us to participate and expedite our own awakening.

This is a Book Study Zoom class on The Power of Now, by Eckhart Tolle.

Discovering Jesus’s Original Teachings

Unity of Portland with Allen Watson

Thursdays, September 23 - November 11 (8 weeks)

10 am to 12 pm via Zoom

Before he was anything else, Jesus was a teacher of wisdom. This class will examine the four gospels in the Bible along with the Gospel of Thomas and the collection of Jesus’s saying that scholars have named “Q” to uncover this wisdom—what biblical scholar Stephen J. Patterson has called “the lost way.”

We will cover:

* When, how, and by whom were these documents written?

* How historically factual are they?

* How close are the teachings of Jesus they contain to his original words?

* What is the core message they contain for us?

* How can we best interpret them and apply them to our lives today?

Seeing the Bible Through the Lens of the Spiral

Unity of Portland with Rev. E.J. Niles and Spiral Pathways

Mondays, September 27 - October 25 (5 weeks)

7:00 pm to 8:30 PM

Credible Bible Scholarship exists to provide new understanding of how to view the Hebrew Bible based on when it was written, and the consciousness of the writers at the time it was written. Spiral Dynamics shows how consciousness evolved during those times.

When we use the tools of Bible Scholarship and Spiral Dynamics, a clear way to trace the evolving perception of God emerges. It is a path we can follow in our individual and collective journeys.

The Spiritual Art of Self-Care Online

Unity Community of Central Oregon - Taught by Rev. Jane Hiatt and Rev. Beth Welton-Miller

ONLINE 8 Week Class - Monday evenings

October 11-November 29, 6:30-8:30 pm (Pacific time)

Many of us, myself included, put the care of everyone we know—even the whole, wide world—ahead of our own care, and dust off our halos as we do so. But what if caring for ourselves is actually the first and most important step in caring for others? This love in action course is for people who are serious about engaging in the sacred work of self-care. It will be highly interactive and incorporate powerful ceremonies.

This class will be offered as a series of 8, available for SEE credit if you need that, and will be designed to help you totally shift your relationship to yourself as a priority. However, it will also be available as a series of individual topics so you can register for just a single session or a few sessions if that works better for you.

Individual sessions

  • October 11: Holding it together: Self-Care and Life Balance
  • October 18: Dropping the baggage; the art of Forgiveness
