The Spiritual Art of Self-Care Online
Taught by Rev. Jane Hiatt and Rev. Beth Welton-Miller

ONLINE 8 Week Class - Monday evenings

    October 11-November 29, 6:30-8:30 pm (Pacific time)

Many of us, myself included, put the care of everyone we know—even the whole, wide world—ahead of our own care, and dust off our halos as we do so. But what if caring for ourselves is actually the first and most important step in caring for others? This love in action course is for people who are serious about engaging in the sacred work of self-care. It will be highly interactive and incorporate powerful ceremonies.

This class will be offered as a series of 8, available for SEE credit if you need that, and will be designed to help you totally shift your relationship to yourself as a priority. However, it will also be available as a series of individual topics so you can register for just a single session or a few sessions if that works better for you.

    Individual sessions

October 11: Holding it together: Self-Care and Life Balance

October 18: Dropping the baggage; the art of Forgiveness

October 25: Mercy Me! The Art of Self-Compassion

November 1: Day of the Dead: Honoring Loss and Grief

November 8: Achieving Lift Off: The Power of Positive Thoughts

November 15: Wholly I Am: Healing and Wellness as a Lifestyle

November 22: Please Pass the Love Pie: Fostering Holiday Harmony

November 29: Be the River: Create a Balanced Flow of Giving and Receiving

    Pricing:

    $75 for the series

    $15 for individual sessions

Self-awareness is necessary for optimal balance and functioning in life. To be self-aware is to realize the dimensions of self and the states of those dimensions.

Course Description: Human beings are more than physical body; they also have spiritual and soul (psyche) dimensions which are equally if not more important than the body. Students will explore the dimensions of self by studying various systems and techniques for self- awareness. They will become more conscious of: their attitudes, beliefs and ways of being; symptoms of stress and imbalance; healthy responses to stress and imbalance; and how to integrate spiritual principles to maintain balance and honor all facets of their being.

Recommended reading (required for SEE): Butterworth, Eric. 1982. In the Flow of Life. Unity Village Publisher, Unity Books. Hendricks, Gay. 2000. Conscious Living: Finding Joy in the Real World. San Francisco: Harper San Francisco.

Your Northwest Regional Unity Board is committed to increasing our ways to connect and support each other. One of our new ways is offering monthly meetings that alternate between education, with a time of connection and meetings that are pure connection. These are scheduled on the 4th Wednesday of each month at 1:00 pacific time.

This month our presenter is Rev. Dr. Ahriana Platten, a Unity minister from Unity Spiritual Center in the Rockies.

Rev. Dr. Ahriana Platten is a practical mystic who believes the entire world is an open door to the Holy. Ahriana has traveled the world to explore its cultural differences and human similarities. She has studied a wide variety of religions and spiritual traditions. She is deeply committed to interfaith education and dialogue, has served as an Ambassador for the Parliament of the World’s Religions, and is featured as a “Wisdom Keeper” in the acclaimed international film and docuseries entitled “Time of the Sixth Sun.” Ahriana considers herself a ceremonialist and is writing a book on the subject. She will be exploring the expanded possibilities for ceremony in our ministries. We encourage your love offerings to support this program. We hope to see you on Zoom!

April 16th-18th was the NW Youth of Unity Spring Rally. The theme for this online event was "Sanctificati Sumus - We Are Sanctuary." 12 people from 6 Northwest Region ministries participated in the event.

We shared an inspiring weekend of connecting and looked at how to create sanctuary for ourselves and how to be a sanctuary for others. Participants reflected that:

"My sanctuary can be created and inspired wherever I choose, it is more about the emotion and the people than it is the actual place."

"Anywhere and anyone can be a sanctuary, and that safety comes in many forms."

Our 2021-2022 Regional Officer is Cody Little-Reece.

Thank you for supporting this event and our youth!
